Crude oil
Petroleum / crude oil / paraffin
Petroleum or crude oil are not included in the classical LVPG fields of application. However, the oscillations allow fluids of all type to be treated, i.e. also crude oil. All types of crude oil also contain a certain quantity of dissolved paraffin, besides many other constituents. Since crude oil generally originates from great depths where very high temperatures and pressures prevail, this is initially not a problem. When oil is extracted, both the pressure and the temperature drop the nearer the oil comes to the surface. The result is that the oil is able to bind less paraffin and it starts to precipitate. The precipitated paraffin is deposited on the pipe walls and, unless suitable measures are taken, this results in clogging of the pipelines. The measures extend from chemicals through heating of the oil to regular mechanical cleaning of the pipes. All these measures have one thing in common: they are very expensive
LVPG has conducted a large number of promising tests in the laboratory with units developed specifically for this purpose. We have managed to keep paraffin fully dissolved in the oil even at very low temperatures (0°C).
All possibilities because of:
- less costs for chemicals
- No time lost for cleaning
- less or smaller pumps
- less aggressiveness of the oil
Result: High reduction of the costs
